Yesterday, Mayor Pro Tem McDermon addressed the citizens and property owners of North Topsail Beach in a video message, available here.
Here is a summary of the main points the Mayor Pro Tem covered:
Board of Aldermen Meeting — Originally scheduled for today, April 2nd, this meeting has been postponed. Considering the health and safety of the community and staff, the Board decided to postpone. This does not mean business halts. The Board is in contact with one another and staff. Even if business doesn’t look the same as it did yesterday, it continues.
Public Comment — During the regular meeting, the Board provides an opportunity for the public to address their elected officials. Because the monthly meeting was postponed, an alternative method is being developed by staff. Later this afternoon, those instructions will be provided to you.
The Town is under a state of emergency. Please, continue to use good judgement. Your decisions impact the health of your neighbors and community.
Parking at public beach accesses is closed.
Short-term rentals are prohibited. If you are concerned that a neighboring property is illegally rented, please contact town hall: 910-328-1349. Complaints are going to the police department.
Town hall is closed to the public, but staff is still reporting. If you need to submit an application, permit or other paperwork, a drop box has been installed and is checked daily. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Census — It may seem insignificant right now, but this is an important tool that helps our community receive funding. On Friday, staff will post information on how to complete the report for your household. Also, look for the fun quiz and challenge others to participate!
Although town hall is closed to the public and the Board’s meeting has been postponed, the North Topsail Beach team is still strong and working for you.
