The Board of Aldermen held a Special Meeting on May 21st at 10 a.m. Here are the items to note:
Alderman Heid Resignation
The Board voted to accept Alderman Heid’s resignation and thanked him for his service. Alderman Leonard in particular expressed his appreciation for the work Alderman Heid has done for the community.
The Board voted to appoint Mr. Richard Grant to fill one of the vacancies.
The Board directed staff to advertise the Board of Aldermen application to fill the remaining vacancy. The application is due on June 3rd by 5 p.m. The Board will vote to fill the vacancy at the June 4th regular meeting.
Town Manager Update
Mr. Gilbride reported that the town has not yet received all the information for the Army Corps of Engineers federal project. The town continues to actively discuss the project with Surf City and state partners. Decisions on the project are forthcoming.
Mr. Gilbride updated the Board on preparations for Memorial Day weekend, which include extra officers on the schedule.
State of Emergency
The BOA discussed enforcement methods to circumvent parking issues. The Town may move forward with towing violators.
