The Town of North Topsail Beach Police Department seeks reserve police officers to perform general law enforcement duties to include, but not limited to:  Investigating traffic collisions, answering general calls for service and complaints, protecting life and property, enforcing traffic and criminal laws and ordinances, preventing and investigating criminal activity, testifying in court, performing related work as required, and writing detailed and factual reports.


Reserve police positions are eligible for hourly compensation upon successful completion of the department’s field training program.  The department recruits heavily from the reserve program to fill full-time positions as they become available.


Completion of high school/GED; NC Basic Law Enforcement Certification; Possession of a valid NC driver’s license, willing to work rotating shifts; Possession of basic computer skills needed to support job functions; Ability to represent the town in a professional and respectful manner, while interacting with all members of our community and within the workplace.

The Town of North Topsail Beach is searching for a finance officer who can continue the department’s great accomplishments. While we are sad that our current finance officer will be moving on to other career opportunities, we wish her all the best and thank her for her service to our Town.

We are excited to meet the newest member of our Team! For your background, the Town of North Topsail Beach is located on Topsail Island, which is not far from Jacksonville, North Carolina. We have approximately 850 full time residents, but our Town’s population can rise to nearly 20,000 in the

summer months. The unique attributes of our town create interesting subject matters for the finance department, including FEMA submissions, accommodation tax collections and dealings with federal agencies (such as Army Crops of Engineers and USDA). Otherwise, the job duties are what one would traditionally expect of a municipal finance officer, such as payroll, accounts payable, reconciliations, budget preparation, grant management, etc. Currently, the position manages one employee, a deputy finance officer.

The Town is now accepting applications for the position of Fire Chief. The Town of North Topsail Beach is a vibrant beach community of 850 full-time residents which grows substantially during the busy summer tourist season. The North Topsail Beach Fire Department is a combination fire department providing fire suppression, fire prevention, and first responder emergency medical services. The Fire Department currently has 14 full-time firefighters and 10 volunteers. The Town currently has an ISO rating of 4. Work involves the full scope of fire service administration and management.

The Chief will be responsible for directing employees and volunteer staff to assure effective training, firefighting, emergency medical response. The Chief reports to the Town Manager and is accountable for the planning and oversight of the department’s annual budget. The Chief is expected to be a “working chief” and is required to ensure Incident Command is performed at the highest professional standards while reporting to the scene of all incidents he or she deems necessary. The Fire Chief is the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for the Town and coordinates all emergency preparedness activities as directed. The position requires a minimum 2 year degree in fire science or related field and completion of advanced courses in fire administration, management, fire suppression and fire prevention. A bachelor’s degree in Fire Science, Emergency Management, Public Administration or related field a plus. Candidates should possess a NC Firefighter Level II Certification, and Fire Prevention Inspector Level II Certification. Experience with oversight of volunteer fire firefighters is preferred.
