Onslow County Beach Access #2 at North Topsail is NOW OPEN.
Extension Request for Phase 5 Restoration Project
The Town has
formally requested an extension through June 30, 2015. As soon as the
Town receives notification about this request rental agencies and
homeowners will be notified.
As of this posting, the Town has not received notice from all agencies about the
extension request. When notified, the Town will post this information
immediately to this site and social sites and will send a CTY message
and email to rental agencies.UPDATED 5/1/2015 PM -Norfolk Dredging will be pumping sand through May 9th. Contingent upon the Board of Aldermen decision on 5/7/15 (at their regular meeting 6:30 p.m.) to continue, Norfolk could start back up anytime between May 10th and 20th
pending NMFS concurrence to grant the extension through 6/30/15.
4/30/2015 - The booster pump needs fixed and will take at least 2 days to get back
up and running. In the meantime, Norfolk Dredging is pumping at the
northern end of the project until the booster pump is operational.
There have been several inquiries about hauling off the rocks that are
being removed from the beach. They are currently not available. An
update will be sent when they are available again.

Paved Parking Lot on North End Complete
The Town has completed construction of a paved parking lot at the end of River Road near the New River Inlet. Signs have been posted warning visitors of the hazardous currents in the inlet.
Partial beach closure between 11th Ave. and 16th Ave. beginning Tuesday, March 31, 2015
The Town is working with a rock removal contractor that should arrive
by Tuesday 3/31 to start work. They will likely be working in a
500 ft. section of dry beach between 11th Ave and 16th Ave. and there
is a potential that this area of the beach will be closed to perform
According to the contractor, pedestrian traffic will
be allowed on the wet sand beach to walk through the area but the public
will not be able to sunbathe, etc. on the dry sand beach in this area.
Sea Oat Cost Share Program
The Town is currently taking orders for its sea oat cost share program. More info & order form

Phase 5 Shoreline Protection Project
Norfolk Dredging Company's dredge is currently offshore of North Topsail Beach and sand is pumping as weather and working equipment allow.
